Description

As vascular plants, trees are organized into three major organs: the roots, the stems, and the leaves. The leaves are the principal photosynthetic organs of most higher vascular plants. They are attached by a continuous vascular system to the rest of the plant so that free exchange of nutrients, water, and end products of photosynthesis (oxygen and carbohydrates in particular) can be carried to its various parts. The central stem of a tree is called a trunk or bole. The term stem is used here. I would say trunk for a tree and stem for shrubs and flowers.

The box contains:

A machined & varnished wooden board with the image of the outline of a plant.

A set of wooden  labels for the parts of the tree. Red printed on white.

A wooden board with a coloured image of a tree with the parts names.

Labels are : tree. root. branches. leaves.

The child places the labels on the board and checks the labeled image.

Self correction helps the child to learn that not having it right is on the way to getting it right.

The adult encourages the child to check but does not make any negative comment about it not being right.

The adult praises the child when they get it right.

Plants  can be examined to identify the parts.
